This may only apply to ADVENT users but take note:

Due to an 'unfortunate accident' I found myself needing to do a full OS restore from the recovery disks supplied with my machine.

All went fine until re-booting the machine I was told that I had to replace all the original hardware that had been in my machine

Fortunately I had not yet given away my old graphics card (sorry ZAnwar!!) or chucked out the dial-up-modem card and I was able to do this. Had I been more efficient said graphics card would have been somewhere else and I'd have been knackered.

Other thing was that the non-destructive re-installation wouldn't work (ADSL could not be recognised...) so I needed to do a full overwrite.

BAH HUMBUG

In the end to celebrate an extra 1/2 Gb of RAM I got the full XPP, so stuff you ADVENT

It's probably the make ADVENT, I had a Advent laptop and it gave me nothing but problems (restarting when on internet) after months and months of putting up with it I had to have mylaptop replaced by a different model and manufacturer.

advent have a feature in the dmi on the motherboards so if you change your mobo or any other component it will recognise it and will disable system recovery this is cuz advent have sum qualm about users using the software YOU purchased used on other machines

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
