Hello,

I have noticed that the user name, that is displayed on the top of the start menu, changes from the users Full Name to the Login Name.

Was wondering if anyone had any idea as to why this is happening and how I can stop it.

(Using Windows XP Pro Build 2600)

TIA

Go to control panel-->user accounts-->click on the name-->change the name

I think this is what you are looking for. :)

Hi there,

Thank you for the input. :)

One thing I failed to mention is that the machine is connected to a domain. As such (I think) the User Account interface is different than when not connected to a domain. There is no option for selecting the picture associated with a user ID, etc.

The user account is a domain user account and not a local account either. The first time I log in the full name is displayed at the top of the start menu (Joe Bloggs). However after a while it reverts to the log in id (bloggsj). The only way to get it back to the full name is to log out and back in again.

Any further thoughts? :)

TIA

Also,

Start, Admin Tools, Computer Management, System Tools, Local Users and Groups, Users

Highlight user, right click, Properties

Hi there,

Thanks for the input. Unfortunetly the user in question is not within that section as the user is a domain user and as such its information is stored on the domain. :(

Have your tried changing the "Full Name" field to just the name you want to display?

However, if in fact your PC is apart of a domain, you probably have to change it on the 'hub'. Just a guess though, since I'm on a workgroup.

Because you are logging into a domain, you have to have your administator change your "real name" in Active Directory Users And Comptuers on the Domain server.

But I don't want a name on top of the start because its a homepc so I don't need a name, its only standing in the way:p,
