Hey all,

I am having trouble with a customers' Laptop, which is revolving around the deletion of an Administrator Account, and this account was the one that installed Norton Antivirus 2004. I can't uninstall Norton because it is giving a message regarding the old Account, which no longer exists.

How do i now go about uninstalling Norton now? the new Administrator deleted the old Admin Account which installed Norton, is there any other way bar re-formatting?

I have tried safe mode, and then using the Admin Account there on Log on, but i can't find a way to uninstall.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick response.

I will certainly give that a try. It was the end of the day and they wanted Norton uninstalled and new AV installed. I tried a few things and they didn't work.

I have used that tool before and it did the job. But what would it do if Norton is tied to the Admin account (which was then deleted). You see it was for his son's Laptop, which he Administered for him, to stop him installing random software (as kids do!). When software was trying to install you need the User and Password to continue...But then the Father decided to give Administrator rights to his Son, and in turn the Son then deleted his Father's account!

I won't know untill Monday afternoon now so will let you know what happens, again thanks for the quickness.

Ouch, I burst a suture laughing at that. No good dead goes unpunished, especially with kids.

Reformat and wipe out all the kids music and video's. Tell him it was because he deleted his dad's account.

Same here, silly but the 'kid' being 16 thought he knew everything and so became the Admin, and now it's costing him, and not his old man!

That way it costs more too, more of my time etc etc. Although i did tell him to back up so when i do arrive Monday if all else fails it will be a Format. They all learn one way or another :)

Just a note to say everything went well.

Used the Norton Tool, and then installed new AV Software.

Cheers folks.
