Useful Commands for linux

Here are some of the commands used in linux to get various info.I am writing down some which i remember now and rest i shall put up soon.Members can also put forward other useful commands.

To install a RPM file:# rpm -ivh file-name.rpm

To get info about the RPM file:# rpm -qip file-name.rpm

To install Telnet on RHEL:# yum install telnet

To display processor number:# grep -c processor /proc/cpuinfo

Checking available free memory:# free -m

To list partitions:# fdisk -l

Linux kernal information:# uname -a

Delete all partition and to create new:# fdisk /dev/sda

History of all commands used:# history

Formatting VFAT/FAT32 file system:# mkdfs.vfat /dev/sda1
