USB Mobile Data Lead Drivers

I have a laptop with a P4 2.4GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM running XP Home.

I have a USB data lead for my Nokia 3310 phone but I cannot get the system to "see" the phone. If I bootup with the phone attached there is nothing. If I unplug and then replug the USB cable (with phone attached) also nothing.

I have been told that I need USB virtual COM drivers for the cable but I have no idea what this means or how to find them.

There is also the possibility that the cable is no good.

Any ideas - please!!

Many thanks

PS I forgot to say that in Control panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/USB Controllers I am told that there is an unrecognised device. I tried updating the driver using the XP Home CDROM but nothing was found.

sounds like you need the nokia pc suite software to get the drivers.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
