I have recently bought a scanner which is USB 2.0 but my pc USB port is only 1.0, and I am receiving an error unable to communicate with hardware.
Is it possible to upgrade USB 1.0 on the pc or does it require a new USB card compatible with USB 2.0?

Thanks in advance..

The scanner should still work with USB1, just alot slower.
But I'd buy a USB 2 PCI card.

I use an external USB2 hard drive and i had to buy a 2.0 to ge the speed up.

USB 2.0 is designed to have backward compatability with USB 1.1, meaning your USB 2.0 scanner should work through your USB 1.1 port, just, as mentioned above, much slower. I will also have to agree that if you keep getting the error to get yourself a PCI USB 2.0 card.

Code_Cutter,
What is telling you "unable to communicate with hardware"? The OS or a program?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
