Update Cable Modem Firmware

does anyone know how to update firmware on an older cable modem...it's a surfboard 4100...I don't want to do anything illegal like uncap it I just want to make sure that I'm running the newest firmware

Your cable company updates it for you, normally not during peak hours, most likely the wee hours of the morning.

ok that's cool...didn't know that...I just know I"m not using the most up to date firmware
