unknown process?

if i go into the processes tab in task manager it says i'm running a process called " wowexec.exe" (i'm just using quotation marks to show that there is a space at the front). does anyone know what this is and if i can end it or not?

It's Windows Win16 Application Launcher.

i also forgot to mention that is has my name under "user name", 00 under "cpu", and it is blank under "mem usage"

The WOW subsystem is closely related to the Virtual DOS Machine (VDM) that NT uses to execute 16-bit DOS applications. WOW is an application environment that runs as a user-mode program (the filename is wowexec.exe) and invokes one VDM for all Win16 applications to run in. (Not my knowledge, just a quote I found)
