i've been trying to update my soundcard drvs, but xp apparently
has other ideas.i remove the old drvs, reboot, point the new hard-
ware wiz to hte new drv file i want to try, it starts loading then says the drvs aren't certified, i say continue anyway, reboot ,after
xp loads the file.then i go and check for the drv ver and date ,
and what do i find? the old drvs! tried this twice w/ the same results! anyone have a suggestion?

thanks in advance!

have you tried to update the driver from devicemanager has a tab for update rollback driver..

yeah i did that and add/remove, but it still reverts back to my old
drvs, thanks for the suggestion though!

I have had exact same problem...radeon driver and audigy x-gamer driver. I have tried several different ways to update the drivers with no avail. I would like a solution for this as well.

Some manufacturers make their own "driver removal" utilities. CANON has one and so does HAUPPAUGE. Maybe what you are looking for is such a utility which removes all traces of the driver files from the registry. You may want to try the support pages of the companies ypu are referring to or their ftp site. Hope this helps a little.

Have you tried disabling the microsoft certified drivers check and then installing the drivers?

thanks for all your suggestions, i figuered it out( read the install
notes !) dumb, dumb, dumb!;) ;)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
