hey i forgot where i saw it maybe it was here in the forum long time ago, but i saw laptops that are made for a beating and waterproof and things like that, i forgot where, because the reason is my bro-in-law has one he got from the uk i think called tough note which he got ripped off i think, cost more than some cars here in egypt lol, i think it was 10,000 dollars or 5,000 and its p3 and i think i remmber seeing better ones that can acutally be hit by bats and what not for cheaper with better specs. anyone know of the manufacturers?

i saw this on tech tv a year or so ago...i will look into for u

I really wonder why someone would pay almost 5 grand for a notebook with those specs.
It's not like any normal person drop-kicks their machines everyday in a deliberate attempt to test its strength. For everyday bumps, most regular notebooks that are built relatively well (magnesium alloy strengthening etc.) can take the brunt without any problems.

...what's next? Bulletproof machines?

sorry i forgot to tell u my brother in law owns the search and rescue in sharm el sheikh so he needs something that can put up with hard bumps and stuff like that, and to go out on the boat.

As far as unbreakable notebooks go, I have been trialing the Panasonic 'tougbook' for my company for the last 6 months or so Its not the fastest kid on the block, but as a field engineer its put up with dust, paint, water etc, plus the odd drop. The battery last ALL DAY, when on power save mode (lid down).

The trial has resulted in the first batch of toughbooks being ordered for field engineers (all for approx £2500).

yeah he saw that one but he didnt like it

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
