It seems that when i perform a search on the hard drive, it does not search into the Windows folder...

Is there any way to change that??

In the "Search Options", "Advanced Options", have you put a tick in "Search System Folders" and "Search Hidden files and Folders". If these aren't ticked the search of Windows will be very fast and may appear as if it wasn't searched.

Ok that's nice, but is there a way to put these option by default? cause noe i have to check it every time i want to find something in the windows folder. :(

This below is a tweak that will do it for you:-

Copy and Paste the info between the lines into Notepad and save it onto your Desktop as:-

FindAll.reg

You must remove the word wrap on the second line

Then just double-click the file.

------------------Begin Copy and Paste---------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"CaseSensitive"=dword:00000000
"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001
"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001
"SearchSlowFiles"=dword:00000000
"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001
-----------------End Copy and Paste-------------------------------------------
Now this one below will do the same but remove that annoying Search Assistant too:-

Copy and Paste the info between the lines into Notepad and save it onto your Desktop as:-

NoAssist.reg

You must remove the word wrap on line 4 and 6

Then just double-click the file.

------------------Begin Copy and Paste---------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Use Search Asst"="no"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState]
"Use Search Asst"="no"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"CaseSensitive"=dword:00000000
"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001
"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001
"SearchSlowFiles"=dword:00000000
"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001
-----------------End Copy and Paste-------------------------------------------

This works great for the options inside "Advanced options" but i still have to check the "Advanced options" box. Is there a way to check it by default?

Not found a solution yet, but it is only one click :D

Yeah i know, but you know how we are, lazy computer geeks ;)

Thanks though!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
