UMAX scanner

has anyone had experience with the UMAX 1600U scanner?
the problem is, XP detects it fine, but it thinks that it is a 2000U
i have tried uninstalling the scanner and reinstalling it with the software that came with it, but it is not supported by XP
can anyone help?
