two interesting conundrums

One: When I boot up, the my docs folder opens on the desktop. This is not listed in any known startup area in the registry win.ini or sys.ini I have

Two:

When I right click on an .inf file I do not get the install option any
more. Don't know where it went. Even have done a reinstal on XP to no avail.

My install data in the .inf file in folder options is:

"R:\WINXP\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection
DefaultInstall 132 %1"

totally normal. Anyone have a clue here?

I remember this used to happen in win 95 and 98 and the fix was pretty simple.

thanks, b.

I heard of a guy who had that problem with the MyDoc folder. In his case Norton Clean sweap was the reason.

Not my case. I have in general avoided these large wooly mammoths.

  • My Docs - look in msconfig and see if something is starting that's looking for something in My Docs
  • What happens if you double-click on a .inf file?

Doesn't appear to be. I also have a program called "advanced start up manager" which lists what starts at start-up. No mention there of my doce. As well, I have disabl;ed all and everything that starts at boot-up and I stil got the my docs folder opening at boot-up.

I wonder if a "service" ciould be invoking it. Although I have controlled my services pretty well

It will open with notepad.exe.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
