Tweaks - My Mistake

My mistake was to follow a Tweak that I found on another site. I am running XP pro and the tweak was to close some of the programs running in the background,, as I keep getting low virtual memory messages. The tweak said that 18 running programs could be closed without trouble if I wasn't on a network. I closed them down, but when I rebooted I couldn't get passed the Welcome Window. The computer was completely frozen and could only be turned off at the wall. I wanted to get into Safe Mode to see if I could reenable the closed programs, but I couldn't. Nothing else worked. Can anyone tell me if Safe Mode is an option with XP pro and if so how to get into it.

Normaly just press F8 right at the start of booting (just before it shows the boot screen- or just keep pressing it from the start) which should give you the menu to get to safe mode.
Otherwise boot from the XP cd and doa repair install windows

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
