Changing Monitor Picture In System Properties

1.Move sysdm.cpl from \Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 to another directory. Or use ResHacker to change this one as well as the one in system32.

2.Grab a copy of ResHacker and use it to open \Windows\system32\sysdm.cpl

3.If you dont bother to move sysdm.cpl from ServicePackFiles/i386 or /system32/dllcache folder then just do the same steps for the one in system32.

4.Replace bitmap 1 with the image you want to use.
The original is 118x113, but I'm not sure if that's the limit.

5.Save.

6.If Windows File Protection complains, click cancel.

Adding The Second Picture. Also Add 'Support Information

You just need to create a custom oemlogo.bmp and oeminfo.ini file and put it in C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder

Contents of oeminfo.ini [Support Information]
---start---
[General]
Manufacturer=>>Company Name<<
Model=>>Model Name<<
[Support Information]
Line1=>>first line of support info<<
Line2=>>second line of support info(you can create more lines if you wish<<
---end---

oemlogo.bmp

Just make a bmp, max size is 180x120 pix

NEW-> If you want the image to be transparent then you gotta make it with Index Colors instead of RBG! You can also just make the background the same color of the rest of the system properties.

Change 'General' To 'Whatever You Want'

Open up /windows/system32/sysdm.cpl in Reshacker.
Click on Dialog and scroll down to 101...

In there where it says 'CAPTION' Change "General" to whatever you want it to say!!

This is also where you can change 'Manufactored And Supported by' and other stuff!

Make Sure You Have SP1.. Sources : www.neowin.net & www.ntfs.org

I got a crappy version to work, but I had to manually go round the visible sections I wanted in PS7 putting the Alpha Transparency in there

B-man, how do you customzise the Support Information?:huh:

Jason, open notepad and insert this:
_________________
[Support Information]
Line1=type something
Line2=and here
Line3=keep adding stuff after typing the line number
Line4=you can have as many or as few lines as you want.
[General]
Manufacturer=this bit is displayed next to the bottom picture.
Model=so is this.

Save it it as oeminfo.ini in windows\system32.

I just realised you probably ment the Support Information button. oops :rolleyes:
In that case, follow the last bit of bman's first post, find 'Support Information' (should be right near 'General' and 'Manufactored And Supported by') and change it to whatever.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
