How can I turn off Windows XP Home Edition's auto select? I'm not sure if I'm using the correct term for it, but it's when you move your mouse over an icon and Windows XP automatically selects it for you and you only have to click on it once... sometimes it even automatically opens the icon for you! It's driving me insane and I can't find where to turn the stupid thing off! Please help!!!!

It's on the first tab of your folder options in the control panel.

Set it to Double click.

Same here. Doubleclick abolished long time ago.
TweakUI has a nice feature which lets you adjust the hover time of your mouse. Set it to lets say 400 ms until you are accustomed to the mouseover select and then make it faster. I found 200 ms a practical value.
Once you are accustomed to it, you won't miss it, saves you hundreds of clicks every day.

I still use double click :)

I find that single leads to many unwanted files being opend.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
