i am trying to get my feel wet with PHP and i was wondering if there is a easy application for "getting started" noobs like me.

also looking to get some books on this, can anyone recommend a well written easy to understand book?

thanks.

<? echo "hello world!" ?>

there you go :p

Jokes aside though search digg.com for php tutorial. maybe also rails tutorial and knock yourself out :D

Think up an application and go from there - need not be anything complex, maybe a guest book or something? There is no substitute for learning by experience, IMHO. Usually it is not hard to come up with something you may want to do.... and then if you break it down and work through it you'll probably find you can google answers to queries as you go...

If you host your work - remember you'll probably need to turn PHP errors on serverside too...

php errors is on by default :)

Depends on the host, some turn them off as it is better for security, in which case one has to turn them back on.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
