Trouble with TV- In/Out

Hi, please help me out as good you can with my problem...
I dont know what to do anymore.

I have a Hercules Radeon 9800SE AIW.
Its softmodded to 9800PRO AIW.
I use the newest Omega drivers.

Trouble is as follow:

1. I cant get my TV-IN to work, I have connected the cables but only get very, very bad image on my monitor.
Its like I want to tune it in, I can see something but not what it is.
Sometimes I see a little, just so I know whats on TV

What can be wrong here ???


2. Next thing is with my TV-OUT, I get picture using my S-video cable, but all I am able to get is black/white image, no color...
What is causing this ?



All help I can get is very very appreciated.

it may be the softmodding itself I think...

try going back to original bios and see what happens...

Hmm might be.

But the softmod is actually just drivers for the card, and wouldnt affect these features...
But I can try.

ok... I thought you had also dl'ed the bios for the 9800pro...

the 9800se has a different architecture see

afaik its 4x1 v/s 8x1 for the pro...

I am not sure if this would affect things like they are being affected but you can try and see if there is any improvement when going back to original drivers

Opens up the 4 closed pipelines so it becomes 8 pipelines.
So mine is as a full PRO card right now.

The only difference between the 9800PRO and 9800SE are that SE has 4pipes closed. They run in same clockrate to 378/337 in stock.


Hmm, maybe I have to go back to the original drivers to get it to work :/

Maybe possible to change the driver when I got it to work if it does with the old once...

well here's teh thing..

if by going back to original bios everything is sorted out... you know what it was and you can look for an alternative mod perhaps... however if it doesn't solve anything than soft-mod it back and we;ll poke around for any other wrinkles

btw the softmod technically is designed to re-enable the disabled pipelines but as was the case with teh 9500-> 9700 mod... this depends on whether the rest of the pipelines are working as required... since there does not appear to be a gaming problem the pipelines are likely to be just fine but perhaps there are some other settings that are causing problems... might have to do with voltages or something else... I am not sure...

I Okey...

well, I think it works just great.
Only problem is just that I cant find any chanels on the tv-tuner right now.

One thing I did hear was that directX 9b was causing this problem.
And there is an article on MS that says that to.
That the special features on the AIW cards dont gonna work with bla bla bla...

But some guys have made it work anyway, dont really know but hope I find a way to soon.

My card is back in standard mode now again.
Using the newest Catalist drivers.

I have no problems wth dx9b and cat 3.9's/mmc 8.7

all works lovely jubly..

channels.. you need to have cable feed.. if you have cable feed the card will pick up on the feed and clear up the image for you a little...

Now I use my regular TV-cable-antenna.
The one that is used to be in my TV for watching it.
I think I got cable TV... not the "real" antenna thingy...

Still no luck with the channel search...

cable feed == you are getting cable channel feed to your place...

I have digital cable in the living room (my room mates) and because of that I can plug my system in and get feed though since I dont have the digital decoder I get analog feed...

Hmm, okey now Im not 100% sure if I got the right thing...

I have some sort of cable that is shared thru our whole building/buldings where I live shares (about 20 Houses)
Its name is Comhem, and provides channels like MTV Eurosport and more.
Dont know if thats right cable for the input in the card ?

BTW.... I get my broadband conection thru the same thing in my wall.
So I must be able to plug that in and get it working, now that I did think of that I know that it should work.

yah.. then it should work..

where did you purchase the card btw?

I know the AIW cards have a little jumper thinger for ntfs/pal/secam it should be already set but if you got it in america maybe you need to jigger the jumper...

I did buy it here in sweden, so it should be right allready...
But if you know which jumper to switch I can allway try...

well its next to the tv tuner itself on the board... there is a little jumper there...

it should be fine if you bought it there already though...

yeah It feels like thats not whats causing it, but ill maybe give it a shoot later, but it would allready be right.

Dont know, but I did read about ppl who aint got it to work with that fix either, but it feels so strange that I cant find any... not even a single channel.

And yeah, did notice that my tv-out still just showes in black/white.
Did test it a few minutes back, with a S-Video cable to my TV.
No color :/ damn im tired of all those problems...


Note: I did have TV-Out on my previous card to, and then it did shove color with the same cable...

they have a lot of european AIW users who may be able to assist you..

I haven't personally used win2k with my card so I am not sure of any quirks...
