trouble with themes

hey

i recently updated xp with teh service pack 1. when i rebooted the computer, my themes no longer worked. im guessing this is something to do with the dll files i had to change before.

i downloaded patchxp, it didnt work, searched google and ran a few other programs that were supposed to fix it, and nothing. any ideas?

You can download the latest version of stylexp, it has a fix for SP1. You can find it on their download page http://www.tgtsoft.com/download.asp

If you have an OEM install of XP then have a look HERE.

patch xp isnt working. it runs fine, then i reboot, then i double click on my theme and nothing.. it brings up the display panel but no theme.

what else can i do?

i keep renaming 'uxtheme.dll' but it keeps coming back. what the hell?

Is Windows File Protection kicking in? If so, ignore by canceling when it pops up.

Read that through. Make sure you disable or uninstall StyleXP or other various patches first (before running PatchXP.exe).

And like xsiv said, if you are running OEM, read the URL provided.
