I recently switched from Windows 98 to Windows XP. All is great so far except I cannot get my fax machine to operate. When I go into the configuring components section a box comes up that says. "The file fxsapi.dll on Windows XP Professional CD-Rom is needed". All-in-all there are about 29 files with this message. A friend @ work said it sounds like the files are not expanded. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks.

Does it ask you to install the files? just pop in your XP cd, autoplay it, open up addtional components, and make sure you have all the fax stuff selected...or even easier if it asks for those files then gives you a property box to locate them just point the box to your xp cd.

Thanks for the reply. This didn't help. It gave me a Copy Error box that states, 'Set up cannot copy file fxsapi.dll. Ensure that the disk labeled "Windows XP Professional CD-Rom" is in the drive selected below, or provide location where file canbe found.

you have to enter the correct path to the files on the xp cd. they aren't automatically entered always. i think these are located in the file called I386 on the xp disc if i'm remembering right.
