Trouble installing games under XP

i'm trying to install "Unreal Tournament: Game Of The Year Edition".. install seems to go flawlessly on my pc running winme downstairs. but why doesnt it install on my system running XP.. any thoughts?.. i did follow the tweak thread in the other forum.. not sure if thats causing it.. thanks

What is it doing? Freezing? Errors?

Have you tried 'compatability mode'? Start menu/system tools.

didnt think of that.. hmm.. i thought i had to have a specific service running.. anyways i installed it on my winme pc and just copied it to my xp pc.. so all is good.. but still would like to know why it went wrong

I had the same problems with quake 2. It would not install on xp because of the language. Copied it like you did & away it went. My problem turned out to be in the language options in the control panel. I had to select the language twice. Once done it installed OK.

um.. wtf.. languages. that doesnt seem like the cause of a whole game not installing
