I use IE, and am proud of it. I don't want to turn this into an IE vs. Other Browser Thread, but I felt that I should stand up and be proud

At the risk of adding fuel to the fire, I'd just like to say that I can't go back to IE because I've become dependant on a) tabs b) must-have extensions.

A browser is no longer complete without extensions such as adblock, spell check, and *session saver*. And definitely not without tabs.

I realize that you can secure IE if you take the right precautions, but it doesn't make sense to me why people insist on using use IE if you can get a browser that is more secure, has better features, and is more useable.

I use IE 7, which has all the features mentioned, plus a phishing filter.

Before that, I used Avant over IE, which is just a skin adding the features I needed :lick:

Technically IE 7 doesn't count in this case And I'm quite certain it doesn't have the extensions The phishing filter sounds great though.

I realize that you can secure IE if you take the right precautions, but it doesn't make sense to me why people insist on using use IE if you can get a browser that is more secure, has better features, and is more useable.

Agreed. I don't insist on using it Grandmaster. I just jump on those who bash it. I've spent years in the industry protecting the bastard child, and securing it against all kinds of threats. In a corporate environment, IE is default. Their web based work tools / applications were developped for it.
It will remain so for quite some time. It's targeted because it's used on 90%+ of all PCs.

If FF ever gets close to 30% usage globally (which it won't IMO) then it will be targeted more heavily.... and like anything with enough people firing all cylinders at it, it will reveal holes.

All the extentions you speak of - will become mainstream in IE7. Tabbed browsing in IE7 beta works the same. I do enjoy it, and my habits are slowly changing towards it.

Whatever, this vulnerability is NOT patched, meaning you have to disable all scripting. I know how to secure IE, it is just that securing it also makes it unusable.

Noted I'm sure tabbed browsing will go mainstream with IE 7 and it should, but is there supposed to be something equivalent of an extension in IE 7?
