Dose anyone know of a why to do this. I have some realy nice desktops that the text gets in the why. Thanks

This Thread points to another thread but someone also mentions a program that will do what you want.

I just rename each icon, and instead of entering text, I just hit "Alt + 255"

How come I can't do that on a laptop?

I guess you mean the "...I just hit Alt + 255..." part.
On my Dell laptop I had to use the "fake numpad", since the normal number keys did not work. I'm guessing you have a similar one - try using that.

try System/advanced/performance/settings and check the box in Visual Settings that says "use dropshadows for icon labels on desktop"

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
