Tracking Down Hidden Programs

Hey Guys @ Gurls

My computer keeps Dialing an Internet Connection every 5 secs.

I have played around with my Internet Settings but I cant seem to stop it.

It stops doing it if I Erase my Network Connection (ISP)

CAN ANYONE HELP ME

I tried the msconfig.exe but all checks out OK. Could it be embedded in a file or mine.

Does anyone know of some software that can track it down.

Its costing me money Man

if ur talkin bout a porn dialer then they can be a right bitch 2 delete make sure in C://program files that there isn't a program called dialers or any outher suspicious files.if there is delete then. i'm not sure if ad aware would get rid of it. have u tried uninstallin ur isp software, deletin any conections that are left + reinstallin ur software?

Already tried deleting ISP

I have tried to delete the ISP and re-install it again but that didnt seem to do any good.

Just deleted anything that said "Dialer"

There was an application called Dialer about 510KB in my Program files modified around about the same time as the problem started. Deleted that.

I'll have to Disconnect and Connect again, which wont be to much trouble as I dont have a choice

I will keep you posted.

if there are porn dilers thre then they should show up in the connections settings in Internet explorer, if they are there just deleate them.

even if u delete the dialers in network conection they reinstal them selves when u next reboot unless u delete the program file

damn thoes pesky p0rn dialers, have you tryed lookign for things like pussyhigh or instantpleasure?
please for give me modds for usign rude words.
also you might need to use regclean from the download section on the main page to clear out any dud keys after you deleated the dialers.

u tried gettin rid of instant plesure?? i took me the best part of 2 hour's by the time i'd deleted it from the registary etc!!!!!!!

My computer doesnt have anything related to Pussyhigh or Instantpleasure

I sent an email to my ISP. They should contact me tomorrow sometime.

Put a dot on Never Dial a Connection

Try that and tell us if it is doing something.......

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEY EVERYONE

I found what is causing my Dial Up to Dial Automatically.

There are 2 files in my /System32 folder that shouldnt be

The name of the file is

rasautou.exe
rasautou..pf

HOWEVER when I try to Delete them they reappear

I managed to track this down by looking in the WINDOWS TASK MANAGER.

So anyone who has this problem in the future this is how you find your UNWELCOMED VISITOR

Oh.....................How do I get ride of this file????

I have Norton Anit Virus, can I go through there?????

yeha i have tryed but it wasnt on my own pc , honest
it was installed on a pc at college , some lamer thort they could dial out and and use it on a LAN lolololol well it got anoying becasue no matter what pc i went on this dumn p0rn program came up, i did manage to track down who installed it and they had there account on the LAN closed and they also got a ban for the year
it was the worst dialer that i have seen to remove
the only pleasure it gave me was seeing the guy that installed it get baned.

Not sure I understand what you mean by re-appear.
Do they get deleted and then appear again when you go back into that folder or do they actually not get deleted.
I had a file the other day that I couldn't delete
(It had a massively long name, maybe that was the reason), but when I tried, it would blink almost as if it had been deleted and come back.
It actually wasn't being deleted at all.

I got rid of it by using my windows boot disk and booting into dos.

Maybe a daft suggesteion, but have they been marked as system files ? If so, XP maybe reinstalling them ?

To Everyone

I have no idea how to get ride of the problem. I tried deleting the files I told you about and then I couldnt get on the internet for about 4 hours.

I know exactly whats happened now.

I have downloaded a Win95 System 32 File off of KAZAA which was titled something completely different.

When I went to open this program it has updated my XP files with Win 95 files. That would explain why my virus software cant detect anything wrong.

Considering I am a Graphic Designer I am way out of my league. I will have to email my Computer Repairer tomorrow. At least I can still work on my design work. Just have to delete my ISP every time I disconnect from the Internet

Cause Im an idiot and I never make back ups when ever things like this happen I get a rush of anxiety and well U know whats it like when something doesnt work. You get

CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY MICROSOFT DOESNT HAVE PRO's ONLINE TO HELP US PEOPLE. SURELY THEY HAVE SOME SORT OF SOLUTION TO PROBLEMS SUCH AS THESE. I DONT KNOW PEOPLE, WHAT DO YOU THINK? I LUV XP BUT A LITTLE HELP FROM THE DESIGNER MIGHT MAKE LIFE A WHOLE LOT EASIER.

THEN THERES THE PARANOID SIDE...............ARE CORPORATIONS FUNDING MICROSOFT EVEN MORE TO IMPLIMENT THESE PROBLEMS ONTO OUR PCs.

NOW I SHOULDNT POINT THE FINGER BUT I BELIEVE THAT THESE FIGURE HEADS RUNNING THESE COMPANYS SHOULD STOP BEING SO PARANOID ABOUT US AND START HELPING US. SURELY LITTLE PROBLEMS SUCH AS THESE ARE NOT GOING TO HERT ANYONE.

By the way while your still in this Forum. How do you rate you GeForce 3 Card? Im thinking of buying a GeForce 4 Ti 4600 but it costs about $800 at the moment.

I have heard that GeForce 3 Card is better than the GeForce 4 Ti 4400 and thats about $600 cheaper than the GeForce 4 Ti 4600.

What do you recommend???

I will be using it for Video Capture and Movie Editing Mostly. Should I wait???
