top of explorer shrunk????

I started up my comptuer today and explorer (of any variety: internet, windows...) has a very small top bar. I don't know what that bar is called, but it is the bar that says Microsoft Internet Explorer and has the minimize, restore, and close buttons on it. For no reason that I can tell, it is about half the size it normally is. This isn't really a problem but the close (x) button is really tiny and now it actually takes an effort to find it. Does anyone know what might have happened to cause that?

i cant say what changed it, but i can tell you how to put it back.

right click an empty spot on the desktop and choose properties. then click the appearance tab then the advanced button. From the dropdown menu choose active titile bar and then you can make it as big as you want (see screenshot)
