This is true in my experience. I got my degree at the end of 2003, and in 2004 I couldn't find an IT job in the city where I live. This year I was able to find the perfect one with much less effort. :D

aaaaaaaaaaaah
just what i want to see!
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING.

i saw a similar list, claiming chem eng gets paid the highest.
i suppose oil and gas prices have something to do with that.

Doesn't make any difference. Your jobs will be outsourced, ROW does it cheaper. :)

EDIT: Just to be sure, I am joking. hehehhehehe

will be. today a toaster reset our server for us...... and it spoke spanish... HOW CAN I COMPETE WITH THAT!

I know how you feel. Our sink did the dishes and the IBM Websphere upgrade. :dead:

what we need is really big magnets..... if everything stopped working then they would be forced to use us.... ok muzikool you break everything and i will turn you in.. i mean fix things.. hehe

I have a Mechanical Engineering degree and can't find work to save my life. I graduated in December 2003.

Nope, I had changed majors late and switched schools, so I had to make up for lost/unused credits in summer school, never had a chance to do an internship. I even have an EI license too.

ick hehe well if you lived in houston i could help you out. But in chicago my pull is completely nill lol.

Interesting to see that 4/10 were engineering jobs. Seems thats all thats left here in upstate NY, to bad I'm not one. :(

to bad I'm not one.

i know the feeling i work with so many engineers to know that im smarter than 90 percent of them and it just pisses me off to know what they will be getting paid 20-30 more than me... Wish i could go back.. i may in the future but im almost done with my current degree.

I'd go back if I could for free. To bad US doesn't have free college. :(

That doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the job over them.

lol i know. All im saying is i know some dumb as post engineers that must be book smart but common sense wise.. would pee on a electric fence. hehe

Yeah, it's good to keep appraised of where the current demand for workers is... Thing is it takes time to get through any program, so along the way things can change... One advantage I see to knowing something of ecconomics, even if one isn't going into this line of work...

What might help, is if we could all design another y2k situation... They might be looking for peeps to upgrade them/resolve that one for them. I think the next date issue is closer to 2038 however, and it isn't on January first. From what I gather (and I have taken some C/C++) it has to do with the time.h header file, and some of the time functions in there. It stores it as a 32-bit int (if I remember correctly) starting at sometime in 1972. When this time in the year 2038 is reached, the function will roll back to 0, and report it as 1972 again...

0:00 1/1/70 GMT I believe is the unix "standard epoch"

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
