Hey All,

just noticed this problem on my server and I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

When using ping I get:
Reply from 192.168.0.104: bytes=32 time=-11490811ms TTL=128
When using tracert I get stuff like:
1 4288028951 ms 4288028950 ms 4288028950 ms 64.230.197.19

Notice the times? I don't know if this is a hardware or software (OS) fault or a bit of both.

Please Help Me!

Oh, the way here's the system specs: http://www.michaelsoft.gotdns.com/stats.asp

Have you done bandwidth testing on both machines to the INTERNET as well as INTRANET? Might be a faulty NIC or ethernet cable somewhere in the loop. Are all machines, assuming you have more, suffering this loss pinging the server?

I ran the speakeasy speed test from the server, all normal. Machines can ping the server and get 3-8ms response.

A friend said: "that looks like int underflow on the part of the time value... but what caused it... is a mystery you're gunna have a lot of fun with... s/w not synced with h/w clock?"

So I don't think its a network problem.

Looks fine from outside 65 MS is typical from me to my gaming buddies in canada. Is this an internal network only problem?

Only time I get this problem is pinging and tracert and maybe any other time something like response is used.

I'd hate to bump a two month old thread but I just wanted to post an update in case someone has a similiar problem.

I still don't know what is causing the odd times but it is hardware based as a reformat has not fixed it. I would be due to one CPU (Dual CPU machine) being slightly overclocked (600chip-650MHz speed).

Case you wondering where this came from, I was going through my subscriptions and figure Id update it before I delete the subscription.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
