Sharp Develops 'Two-Way Viewing-Angle' LCD
TOKYO (AP) -- At last, a way to end squabbles over which TV channel to watch - without buying a second set. Sharp Corp. has developed a liquid-crystal display that shows totally different images to people viewing the screen from the left and the right.

One person can be surfing the Internet, using the display as a PC screen, while another watches a downloaded movie or TV broadcast. It also works for watching two TV channels: One person can watch baseball while another watches a soap opera.

The "two-way viewing-angle LCD," announced by the Japanese consumer electronics maker Thursday, will go into mass production this month and will cost roughly twice as much as a standard display.

Okay okay enough stretching of reality. TittleBitties is the last person you'd call a genius :p

The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of childhood into maturity

Sharp has also developed a new LCD panel whose viewing angle can be switched from wide to narrow, allowing people to view private information on their PCs or cellphones without having to worry about others being able to see it.

tittlebitties, does that mean its ok to pick my nose and pee in the shower till i am old?

This is actually addressed in the full article. One person would need to wear headphones and the other person could listen as normal.

:|...didn't read the full article cause I didn't fell the need to since I thought it was a stupid idea in the first place :p.

Who wants to watch tv with headphones in the first place? I get annoyed enough when we have to wear headphones at school in Networking. If people are to damn lazy to read what the guy is saying then they shouldn't be in the class. I read it to myself and turn the guy off cause I can get done 10-15 faster then the people that listen to the guy. Now I am way off topic so I am going to shut up now.

They must be bored over there. :p

But it's really due to the U.S and their stupidity of buying anything... and I do mean anything, that is some sort of new gadget. Oooo a new TV and I can watch one thing while someone else watches something else. And it only costs twice as much as a regular one, wow.

Shiit, just buy two TVs. Damn, what brainwashed idiots.

good call gonaads.. What ever happened to that segway(i think thats how its spelled) thing? Since i live in the somewhat poor part of atlanta, the only thing i see people do is pimp their old cars with exhaust and what not. But if its something for a car, you bet people around here do it! I don't think that kinda stuff is big in Europe cept maybe all the racing styles like in ali g.

Yeah, the Segway... hahahaha. I remember hearing about cities that banned the thing from its sidewalks. Before it was revealed there was all sorts of speculation about what it would be. Rumors were that it would revolutionize transportation. I was hoping for a hoverboard! :D

Very cool. It's too different to suceed though. tsk tsk.
