Temp files

On my old Windows OS my temp files were stored in C:\windows\temp

Although I've found them in XP under local settings etc.... they are hidden, and if I change the attributes, the come up hidden again on reboot. Is there an easy way to set my temp folder back to where I want it and for it to remain "unhidden" ?

Cheers,

Control Panel-System-Advanced-Environment Variables.

Then Edit the entries :)

hi rapscallion

welcome to xp-erience

this is my work around

1. change your start menu to classic
2. open the folder local settings
3. drag n drop the temp folder onto the start button
this gives the folder cascading attributes
4. cut & paste the the folder from *C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu* to a directory of your choice
you can do the same to any folder hidden or not

2Z - Why go through all that when all you have to do is change the environment variable, as the prior post points out?

Thank you for the quick response guys, much appreciated. Now sorted :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
