Task Manager

Ok, not sure where else to put this, and i hope this is easily fixable.

As of a few months ago, i have been unable to use my task mannager. When i cont+alt+del it'll come up, but only for a few seconds. It will then minimize to my system tray, and when i try ot click on it, it will disappear. Clearly, this is can frustrating. Any help on why this keeps happening would be appriciated.

p.s. Not sure what specs you would need to know, I'm using XP...

Try this. Click Start - Run - type: msconfig

If this doesn't open as well, run a full virus scan.

its normally a virus that will cause that. start in safe mode and use msconfig to see whats going off.

ok, I ran Norton and it said:

The file C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe is infected with the W32.Spybot.Worm virus.

but it could not fix it. What now?
