When I open my harddrive, or any other folder, for some reason instead of showing system tasks it shows folders(as in the windows explorer window), this has only been happening for the past few weeks. Im sure there is some simple way to fix this, or at least I hope there is :)

Check these registry keys

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Folder\ shell
default ....... REG_SZ ...... ........ (value not set)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Folder\ shell\ open\ command
default ........REG_EXPAND_SZ ..... %SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /idlist,%I,%L

the second one is ok, the first one says:

Default REG_SZ explore

how do I go back to value not set, just type it in?

Right click on "default" and click "delete".

(As always just to be on the safe side, export the key before making any changes.)

Worked great, thanks (for the life of me I cant see how they got screwed up in the first place, although there seems to be a link between it and my daughter installing Winamp a couple of weeks ago)

:D

Hmm, you can hit the folders button on the toolbar to switch between the folders pane and the common tasks pane, but not sure if it would stay that way.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
