madmatt put me onto this a while ago for changing the system properties box.
"System Logo

C:\WINDOWS\System32\

oemlogo.bmp
oeminfo.ini

OEMINFO.INI must have this format, use as many lines as you want, just keep adding to the line number. get it?

[Support Information]
Line1=info here
Line2=more info here
Line3=
Line4=and so on.
[General]
Manufacturer=yeah, you pick a name
Model=type, whatever

OEMLOGO.BMP
I forget the size, but you can create an image of like 240x140 pixels, (thanx zalood) make it transparent, so on. Have fun."

Have fun I did. Make some changes then let's see them.

Mine is here.

Cool!

"the hip one" is being kinda aggressive in his messages :p

Good stuff Hipster, now I just have to think of some useless bit of information to put in there.:p

and if Windows XP Pro is retail? Can I create these files?

Thanks! You beat me to it, I figured it out allready :)

Contains some profanity.

here

Typos too...

I made the f word just for amusement there, I'm going to put my name there or something :)

The Next Step

Here is how to change the Windows Logo and other headings

Make a copy of Sysdm.cpl (can be found in win/system32 folder)
Open this file with ResHacker

Replace Bitmap>1>1033 with your own bitmap

To change the heading goto Dialog>101>1033
Find the heading that you want to change in the right panel.
Once finish, click Compile Script and Save.

Use the standard procedures in replacing system files, like what you did in replacing uxtheme.dll, shel32.dll and others.

It appears that sysdm.cpl is not only located in
win/system32 and win/system32/dllcache but also
in win/LastGood/system32 and
win/ServicePackFiles/i386
so you also need to get rid or replace sysdm.cpl in that folders
back up before you do that

Very, very nice! someone move this to tweaks and pin it!

The oemlogo.bmp and oeminfo.ini "trick" works on all versions of Windows since 95a afaik. It's made for retailers to put their logo and contact info in the computer.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
