Swapping HD

I have been given by a freind a new desktop unit - No Hard Drive (Faster than my old one), I have transfered all my bits i want i.e. dvd writer, sound card etc. - My main query is that i want to keep my old hard drive as the main drive to keep all my info etc. i have installed my old HD but the pc will not boot into windows, the hd is recognised in bios and will boot into the linux partition so i know the hd is installed ok.

Could someone please tell me how to sort it, links/info many thanks and soon if poss.

Sheeesh, what a b*st@rd, was hoping not to go down that route gonna lose a lot of stuff, cheers for reply catch23.

yea. catch23 is right.. but you can leave any documents of files.. its just the main windowsXP system & other programs you have that need reinstalling.

It would be qa miricle if XP could mind read ya PC.. but no such luck! lol
