There's more options then being a goody two-shoes who tries to please everyone to the point of being a door matt vs. treating people mean because they might do the same (aka beat them to the punch)... I hope you're not suggesting this is what Zedra turns around and does for now on 
One can stick up for themself when the occassion calls, without going around treating people meanly... I, personally wouldn't go around treating people like door matts, to avoid the same. Though I'm not one to take it, I'm not one to go around dishing out what I wouldn't want to be the recipient of either
