Stuttering Audio

I've got an 800 Mhz Pentium III Dell Dimension desktop. After upgrading to XP, my audio pops and stutters. I've done the following things, with no relief:

1. Upgraded the drivers of my SoundBlaster Live! Value sound card.

2. Upgraded my RAM from 256 to 512 MB.

3. Replaced the SoundBlaster card with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card.

4. Shut down every background process imaginable.

Any help out there?

What player do you use?

Move the card to the last pci slot

It happens with whatever I use, RealJukebox, WindowsMedia, MusicMatch, you name it.

Thats the spot creative says to put them in to reduce pops and such

Heh. Well I'll be damned. Maybe I'll give that a shot to make the movies in RA2 produce audio correctly and maybe it'll even stop my freezing.
