streaming roms?!

i just had an idea for an emulator that would stream your roms from an internet site, and would track your scores! you could have them displayed publicly, and for a bunch of different games! i know you have to own the roms before you play/download them, but there could always be a 'user agreement' saying 'we trust you own this game, blah blah blah'....

what do you guys think?

i'd like to see how i match to others playing a non-tweeked mario, or zoop.

Hmm, that would involve ROM hacking and that is not that easy. The scoring system is not the same with every game, so you you cannot just pick out an address range from where the score is being stored.
As for the legibility (<--zpellled wronk), this is a grey area, as is the same with 'normal' roms. If what you say is true (that you can download roms if you own the game), then why do I have to look on the very vague russian/chinese/whatever site to find a rom (which I don't, I use newsgroups myself), and can't I just download it from www.whateversite.com? (ie easily accessible)
