When i start up windows xp it went straight to the desktop now it goes to a log on page first. How can i restore this to the former

I have seen this happen after the .NET stuff gets updated sometimes. I'm assuming you can just click your name on the login screen or hit enter if you have the classic control box and still not enter a password?
