Start menu speed

For some reason the speed of the start menu is way too fast. When I click start, and then try to go to control panel for example, you would have to scroll over programs, which opens up immediately after the mouse is over it. This makes it difficult and highly annoying to navigate the start menu. How can I slow down the start menu's reaction time?

Make your way here in the registry:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
and alter "MenuShowDelay" to 400

The poster doesn't want to make it faster, he/she wants it slower.
