When I play a dvd with power dvd the sound goes out (no sound) avter about two minutes in. If I try to play the dvd with windvd, i get an error "Create Overlay Failed"

I have a Compaq Evo 800v notebook computer with Windows 2k, newest bios, direct x, video and audio drivers.

Please help.

Did this just start? Where both these apps working properly at some time?

if you use a demo veriso of powerdvd the soun will fall out after a time as a limitation...

This is a work laptop and I am the local "computer guru." I volunteered to get it to play DVDs. It is the only computer we have that has a DVD drive in it. I thought it would be something simple to fix. It still doesn't play dvds using windvd.

It gives this error: Create Overlay Failed

Is there a free dvd player that I can use. Anything that works is fine I don't need all the bells and whistles.

Thanks

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
