sony cd-rw crx140E

I recently upgraded from windows 98 to windows xp and this is my second day of using xp. The first day i used it my cd-rom and cd-rw drives worked fine. Now neither of them work. The drives are the sony cd-rw crx140e and the BTC 48x IDE CD-ROM Drive. I am getting this error: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
does anyone know how to fix this problem or have a download link for the drivers necessary to fix the problem. System restore is a last resort since i've installed/downloaded a ton of things today and yesterday.

first thing is try uninstalling the driver, then click on scan for hardware changes to have the driver re-installed.

If that doesn't work go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-0 8002BE10318}] Click on file then export save key as savedkey.reg then remove upperfilters if you have it and lowerfilters type is REG_MSV Then go to device manager remove the hardware ie cdrom drive, then click on action and then scan for new hardware/hardware changes and then it finds it and sorts it out

Does anyone know where I can get the XP drivers for the Sony CRX 140E or are they one the XP CD?

sony extreme is for the sony burning software update for xp...first hack the reg like robbass said...reboot and install the aspi drivers for your cdroms have you been changing to ultra dma mode this happened to me once?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
