slow video with voodoo 3000 in XP

I own a Voodoo3 3000 card. Recently I changed to XP. Downloaded new (third party) 3dfx drivers and installed them. Problem: slow video performance. For example when you drag a window it leaves a white space behind for a second or so, or sometimes it leaves stripes behind for a while before the screen recovers. Also: when opening a folder it takes a second or so for the icons to "fill in". None of these things occurred before I installed the new drivers. How to fix this??? What to tweak??? Thanks for any help.

I don't think it's to do with your video card or drivers, more likely to be the animated effects active in xp. If you go to >Settings >System >Advanced >Visual Effects and try turning off some of the animations. It speeded up my Athlon 1200 / Voodoo 3 3000 no end. I must add though that it never effected any games!!
