Slow Sun's Java

Does anyone know how to resolve the program of why Sun Java runs slow in
general? It doesn’t matter which Java Applet is loaded on the web, everything
is slow when you interact with Java. Is there like anything besides Sun’s Java
that I can download and install? I mean I read on the Microsoft website that
they are no longer supporting their own Java Virtual Machine due to the
settlement with Sun.

So, is there any other Java, that runs fast besides Sun’s Java? Or perhaps
there is a solution to Sun’s Java running slow. If you can help, please let me
know.
