sloooooow printing

wXP takes about 40minutes to print (send to printer?) one page (even blank or test page) from wordXP or any other prog to shared printer on network... what seems to be the problem? connected the same printer directly thru usb adn everything works OK. but thru the network....nothing

Do you have the latest drivers for your printer? or are you using default XP ones. also is this a upgrade of XP or a clean install and what type of printer are you using?

latest drivers. clean install. hp dj990c

have you made sure that the print spool service is set to automatic? see if that helps the situation. I can't imagine what would cause such a long non response/buffer time...worse comes to wrose uninstall the drivers and see if xP has a default driver that might work
