slipstream sp2 into office xp pro?

As it's not been splashed all over the forum's, im betting Mr Gates didnt do an intergrated option.

Well Microsoft list the how to for XP SP1 along with the download. Mabey you could look around the Q&A at microsoft for more info.

Howto: SP1 -> SP2 -> Office XP Pro

Just to save you from the trouble:

This is how you slipstream SP1 and SP2 into Office XP Pro
(The instructions are only tested with the US version of XP Pro
be sure to download the correct version of the SPs and not
the ones provided in the links if you try to apply the patch to a different version)

You will need to apply SP1 before applying SP2

First of all you need to download these files:
oxpsp1a.exe (NOT oxpsp1.exe) from here :Service Pack 1
and oxpsp2a.exe (NOT oxpsp2.exe) from here :Service Pack 2

Then:
You first need to create an administrative installation so:
* insert Office XP in your cd-rom drive
* execute from the command prompt of your CD-ROM "setup /a"
* enter organization & CD-Key & location (C:\Office)
* install (don't worry it won't overwrite your current installation)

Next Step:
*Extract the oxpsp1a.exe to C:\OXPSP1
*Extract the oxpsp2a.exe to C:\OXPSP2

Patch with SP1 part 1:
*Type in the command prompt:
"msiexec /p C:\OXPSP1\MAINSP1_Admin.msp /a C:\Office\proplus.msi"
*Don't change details!
*install

Patch with SP1 part2:
*Type in the command prompt:
"msiexec /p C:\OXPSP1\OWC10SP1_Admin.msp /a C:\Office\owc10.msi"
*Don't change details!
*install

Patch with SP2 part 1:
*Type in the command prompt:
"msiexec /p C:\OXPSP2\MAINSP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\proplus.msi"
*Don't change details!
*install

Patch with SP2 part2:
*Type in the command prompt:
"msiexec /p C:\OXPSP2\OWC10SP2ff.msp /a C:\Office\owc10.msi"
*Don't change details!
*install

When done burn the contents of C:\Office to a CD-Rom
Bear in mind that when using your new CD you cannot change the Product Key,it will use the one you entered during the patch.

To correct/avoid errors, try to do it first on a CD-RW.

Good Luck :)

PS1: I tryied to double check everything but you never know... :(

In addition to the above information you can also type

msiexec /i C:\Office\proplus.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus

and update your current installation, however you will need to re-activate in you are not using a corp version.

I tried that but the total size was somewhere around 950 MB. That won't fit on any CD that I know of. How big was yours after installing both SP's?

Something has gone wrong in your slipstreaming, I made one last week and it fitted on a cd with a tonne of room left over to create a directory and place both the MSP files in it (To install on computers that weren't connected to the network that didn't have the SP already installed)

How big was it after just installing SP1? My copy came with SP1 pre-installed so I all I did was add SP2.

as did i, i cant tell u cause im at home and the cd is at work, will reply in about 11 hours when i got to work

FYI

If you are doing an ADMINISTRATIVE update to your OfficeXP CD / Administrative Installation, you DON'T need to install SP1 before you do SP2. Only SP2 would suffice.

However, if you are updating your INSTALLATION of Office XP, you DO need to install SP1 and THEN SP2.

Kind regards,
Willem Moolenaar

it came through a MS Select agreement with sp1 already slipstreamed onto it.

so i cant tell u

Ok guys and girls,
there is nothing wrong with the slipstreaming...
I just forgot to mention (I thought it was obvious)
you delete the OXPSP1 and OXPSP2 folders after the update....
then the size on an NTFS disk is 635MB and according to Microsoft:

Important Prior to installing Office XP SP2, you must install Office XP Service Pack 1 (SP1).

There you go.....:)

Correct, if you are updating your INSTALLATION of OfficeXP. If you want to SLIPSTREAM the SP2 into your OfficeXP cd, you DON't have to slipstream SP1 first. Remember, we are talking the ADMINISTRATIVE updates here. Not the regular ones.

Its the line is right below the paragraph from which you qoute. ;)

This has been discussed before in the http://www.ntfs.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=18818 thread.

There ya have it :D

Your link doesn't work....
anyway I found this one atMicrosoft

I can see:

You do not have to install Office XP SP-1 before you install the Office XP SP-2 Administrative Update.

I have not seen that, thanks...
Well this means you can skip the parts regarding SP1...

Q325671...

That's the article I was referring to. Don't know why my link doesn't work, guess it got cut off by the web board software. But yes, that's the page, and the exact same quote. ;)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
