Slackware 9.1 SATA support?

I was just wondering if anyone knew if Slackware will install on my machine, with an onboard SATA RAID controller (only one drive currently though)

If not, what distros besides Mandrake and Redhat include SATA support?




One more thing, i origionally partitioned my HD when i reinstalled windows to leave a space for a linux install, but i want to make that space a little bigger. Will partition magic work for changing the partitions or will it really screw up my drive

Slackware has SATA support, what is the card/onboard chipset.

its an intel dell mobo....based of the 845 i think

This is a kernel issue, not a Slackware one. If the Slackware 9.1, 2.4.x kernel doesn't have SATA support, you will have to re-compile and upgrade to the 2.6.x kernel which I am sure has SATA support.

Mandrake 10 and Fedora Core 2 test2 so far.

You can custom-compile 2.6.x on any distro though, which is almost always a better option, since you can optimize it for your particulat system. Smaller kernel == faster kernel.
