shutting down server over network

Hi there!
I am running a 2 PC "network" at home so I am able to access the net with both computers at the same time.
Is there a possibility of shutting down the server by sending some command from the client???
My server is running XP and the client is on Windows 2000.

As far as I know it is only possible to do this with third party software. I use a program called remote administrator shutdown machines across the network. But I'm sure if you serch google you can probably find some freeware that will do it.

thx for the link! The program is just what I wanted. Still it doesn't work yet as the server doesn't let me access with that command.

dav3st is right...psshutdown by sysinternals...along with their other appz is the way to go....so just download their pstools package...and place it in the system32 directory..and away you go

Do you have any clue how I can bring my server to accept the commands?

Somehow it doesn't wanna work

if your login on your pc...is the same as the login on the remote pc...it should be ok to use..also... you can put the pstools on the server as well...if you are every in doubt with any of the commands...do a "/?" after the command... and follow the switches...you cant go wrong...any questions just let me know....

you must login to the another pc with an account with administrative privileges from the pc where you are logged on
net use \\otherpc /u:user\administrator *
psshutdown \\otherpc

Still I have to be logged in with the same username and password on both computers but hey, that's no problem with a network of two computers...
