I currently have a Geforce2 Pro card (Leadtek), which is fine and dandy, but starting to get the gaming bug, I want the best I can.

I cannot afford or justifty at the moment getting a GF4 4600, besides which i doubt my 1Ghz P3 will do it justice.

So should I upgrade to a GF3, or save my pennies till I can afford a GF4 4600 ? and just clock the hell outta my Pro!!?

Well if you want to make sure you can play future games at blazing speeds I'd save and get the geforce 4.

But if you wanna save some money and don't need super power then you can just get a geforce ti500 and overclock it, but when it comes to new directx 8 games you'll definitely end up needing the geforce 4 eventually

Really I heard that a GeForce3 Ti200 will work with future games :)

Well I picked up a Visiontek GeForce3 Ti200 for 119.00 retail. I will wait a bit for the GeForce4 to come down in price. If you can't wait then go with a Ti200 or Ti500 GeForce3. I wouldn't bother the the GeForce4 MX. The Ti200 and Ti500 get better bench mark in all the reports I have read. I got the information below from www.guru3d.com in the right hand column about GeForce4 MX

Quake III 800x600 1024x768 1280x1024 1600x1200
GeForce2 MX 400 88.2 55.53 33.17 22
GeForce4 MX 420 124.03 82.77 50.8 33.8
GeForce3 Ti 200 175.37 153.63 113 80.7
GeForce3 Ti 500 181.07 170.43 138.87 106.17

3D Mark 2001 800x600 1024x768 1280x1024 1600x1200
GeForce2 MX 400 3758 2648 1620 1063
GeForce4 MX 420 4758 3693 2443 1670
GeForce3 Ti 200 6726 6123 5065 3992
3D Blaster Ti 500 7504 6947 6132 5100

Thnks guys for the input.

I've just been doing abit of reading, FiringSquard have an interesting article about GF4 performance on realistic PC setups.. 1Ghz or lower. As far as Im concerned (Intel setup), a GF4 would still run extremely well . No need for a faster processor.. Phew!!!

I've decided to save my pennies for a GF4 4600, probably a Gainward or Leadtek, the Gainwards seem to have better 2D than most.

Now I just gotta stop myself from using the saved pennies on a new CDRW drive! stop..no.. I must not buy.. no..noo!!!!!!!!! lol :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
