There's no reason not to unstall a tweaking utility (tweakui, x-setup, tweakxp). They do absolutely nothing until you tell them to and all of them will solve your problem. And all three are free (even tweakxp, for the first 50 uses).
I know this....... I have found registry fix's for all the things that I want too tweak. I see no reason to install tweak XP just to get rid of the shortcut arrow, when I know there is a registry fix for it.
Thats all a tweak progy does. Changes the registry in some way...
Im sure out of all the smart people on this forum, there is someone that knows how to do this without the old standby (install tweakXP).........
First instead of complaining about a lack of responses to your question do a search on the net for your question - I searched Google and found it in less than 2min. Anyway here it is:
Remove shortcut arrow from desktop icons
Here's how you can remove those shortcut arrows from your desktop icons in Windows XP.
Start regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile
Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
You may need to restart Windows XP.
Thanks Sage ... But I wasnt complaining about a lack of responses.
Nothing In my post was complaining about anything, other then the idea that I dont want to install a tweak program....
Sorry, didnt think about a search on the net. I have had so much help from the web page and have given so much help that it didnt even cross my mind !!!
Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
