Windows XP SP2 to incorporate Longhorn Security
According to sources close to Microsoft, the company is currently working on back porting several security technologies it had planned for it's next OS (currently code-named Longhorn) to Windows XP. This seems to be the main reason for the delay to Windows XP SP2.
The new security features include an updated version of the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), which will have outbound scanning added. Other features are currently only found in Microsoft's enterprise server product Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000.
