is there a way to run SFC on a windows instlation that is not active? like i have this drive that was infected and i want to make it work, by running SFC but i cant get past the windows screen. it boots and all and its the windows screen right before the logon one.

any ideas?

Boot from the Windows XP cd then go into recovery console and run SFC.

^^^That would be a way to accomplish sfc, but I would actually suggest doing a repair on the OS if you can't get into windows directly.

Have you tried Safe Mode, VGA Mode?
